THINGS AROUND ME
This picture was taken on an island of Venice called Murano and Burano, a lovely place with venician essence and colorful views.
This was concretely one of its streets, thats why we are able to see the water with the main vehicle there: the boat.
We can see at the back beautiful houses of different colors, one beside the other one, and a wooden bridge connecting both streets.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PLACE?
This is one of the three places that i though about immediately, but i chose this street because in my opinion the feeling and atmosphere of it can reach the viewers similarly as it reached me when the picture was taken.
One of the strongest feelings that this place transmits is joy, probably because of the mix of colors, water and boats, that bring us some kind of antique environment but at the same time a fairytale story one, that makes it original, due to the fact that every person would be able to admire it from different perspectives, like for example the childish one.
WHAT MAKES YOU COMFORTABLE?
What makes me comfortable about this place is the amount of peaceful elements that are there, that all of them combined makes me feel safe and unworried, just like we were as children.
I would say that is the childish air that it has, with the charming colors, the decorative plants on the bridge, or the quiet water, that gives some kind of welcome to every person that stops to watch it closely, and even the ones that just pass by would feel that lovely environment.
THERE IS SOME DISRUPTIVE ELEMENT?
From my perspective i would say there are some elements that break these antique and childish surrounding that this place brings.
In the picture we are able to see two boats floating on the water, but the one on the right doesn’t fit in with the atmosphere, because as we can see it is not made of wood or any element that can remind us of some antique air, instead it has different texture and neutral colors, that, as I said, doesn’t relate to the feeling that this place has to offer.
DO YOU THINK YOU’D FEEL THE SAME WAY IN ANOTHER SPACE RIGHT NOW?
I am going to say yes to this question, because as I said before, this reminds me of my childhood and the child’s fantasy stories, and the only other place that brings me the same memories is my childhood home.
That house is not that colorful, doesn’t have that water street or a bridge, but it is totally able of giving me the same atmosphere as this town, even with different elements. Describing it in general, is a big house with a lot of green from the vegetation that it has, a lot of different animals from dogs to a horse, and a big exterior garden.
The two things this places have in common is the antique essence and this fairytale’s air, that as the venician town, makes me feel joy and peace.
DO YOUR THINK THAT THE CONDITIONS OF THIS PLACE INFLUENCE ITS OCCUPANTS? HOW?
In my opinion, there is no way of not being influenced by this place’s conditions. I totally think that combination of elements was made for the aim of expressing some type of joy or happiness.
This place can influence somebody in a good way, thanks to the melody that those colors create, the peculiar water street, and the charming antique atmosphere that creates that bridge made of wood, the boat and the simple houses.
From my point of view, any person that walks through that street would feel open, as this place would give them the opportunity of letting go of darkness for a moment and instead have a colorful and imaginative view.
